Juha Wuolijoki, born on November 10, 1969, in Helsinki, Finland, is a distinguished Finnish director, writer, and producer. He is the founder and CEO of Snapper Films. It is a production and distribution company established in 1998. The company has offices in Helsinki and Los Angeles.

Wuolijoki earned his Master of Arts degree in 1995. He graduated from the University of Arts and Design, now part of Aalto University. He began his career directing and producing the television film “Gourmet Club” in 2004. The film received the Venla Award for Best Television Movie. It also won the Golden Nymph Award for Best Screenplay at the 45th Monte Carlo Television Festival.
In 2007, Wuolijoki directed “Christmas Story.” He also produced and wrote this family feature. It became the top-grossing Finnish film of that year. The film was distributed in 120 countries and won two Jussi Awards in Finland.
His other notable works include “Hella W” (2011). It’s a biographical drama about Finnish playwright Hella Wuolijoki. He also worked on “Zarra’s Law” (2014), a crime drama set in New York. He also produced the Finnish box office hits “Ella and Friends” (2012) and its sequel “Ella and Friends 2” (2013).
Wuolijoki is a member of the Producers Council in the Producers Guild of America and the European Film Academy. His company, Snapper Films, has participated in international co-productions. One example is the Bollywood film “Shamitabh” (2015), starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush. This film was partly shot in Finland.
In 2021, Wuolijoki directed “Vinski and the Invisibility Powder,” a family adventure film based on a popular Finnish children’s book.
