Are you ready to put your film analysis skills to the test? Each month, you’ll take on the role of a “world-class film critic”. Watch the featured film of the month. Dive into its themes, characters, and visuals. Rate it like a true cinephile! 

How It Works 

1. Watch the Film of the Month 

2. Analyse the Film

Use the questions below to guide your analysis. Don’t just watch—immerse yourself in the story, visuals, and emotions. 

3. Rate the Film

  Assign the film a score out of 10 and justify your rating. 

4. Share Your Thoughts

Post your analysis and rating on social media or discuss it with friends! Use the hashtag #SoYouThinkYouAreACritic to join the conversation. 

What to Look For?

Use these prompts to analyse the film like a pro: 

1. Plot and Themes

 What is the story about? 

What key themes are explored, and how do they connect to the monthly theme? 

Did the story engage you? Why or Why not? 

2. Characters and Performances

Who are the key characters? 

Which performances stood out to you? 

Did the characters feel authentic and relatable? 

3. Cinematography and Visual Style

What visual techniques (e.g., lighting, colour, framing) stood out? 

How did the cinematography enhance the story or themes? 

Was there a particular scene or shot that stayed with you? 

4. Music and Sound

How did the music and sound design shape your experience? 

Did the score complement the emotional tone of the film? 

5. Overall Impact

What emotions did the film evoke? 

Did it leave you thinking, inspired, or emotional? 

Rate the Film

Score the film out of 10 in the following categories:
