June is Pride Month — a time to celebrate identity, diversity, and the freedom to be who you are. This month, our theme is Identity and Gender, and we’re exploring these ideas through the intimate and beautifully observed world of French cinema. Cinema has long been a space for exploring questions of identity, and this month we’re celebrating that tradition.

Our featured film is Céline Sciamma’s Tomboy (Un Garçon Manqué) — a quietly powerful and deeply empathetic French film about a ten-year-old child who, upon moving to a new neighbourhood, begins to explore their gender identity.
